….. Lefthanders Day! I’m assuming it’s a day that most of you do not celebrate, but hey, there are some great lefthanded people out there (my Mom). According to Reader’s Digest, only 10% of the people are lefthanded. Below are the perks to being lefthanded (according to Reader’s Digest).
- Being a left may help you succeed in leadership roles.
- Lefties often learn to be ambidextrous (out of necessity because things are made specifically for righthanded people (knives, scissors, etc.)
- Left-handedness lets you stand out
- It’s a great conversation starter
- While it’s not always easy, the challenges can make you stronger (I’ve never heard a lefthander say this)
- Lefties aren’t necessarily more likely to think outside the box
- Lefties are better at video games
- There have been eight presidents who have been lefties. James Garfield, Herbert Hoover, Harry Truman, Gerald Ford, Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton and Barack Obama.
And yes, the clip image is meant to help those who think ‘left’ is just the ‘other right’. The picture shows an easy visual that you can actually see a “L” on your left hand when looking at both the left and right hand. This service announcement is provided for at least one person in particular who knows ‘left’ as the ‘other right’; you know who you are.
