Save your water and your Peanut Butter
Look at the tropics today……. one hurricane and a couple of spots on the map that are expected to develop; one in the Gulf of Mexico and one leaving Africa.
My suggestion is to set aside your storm rations (canned soup, meats, water, peanut butter etc) and safe them just in case one of these storms threaten you. As for the extras loaves of bread, just throw them in your freezer for now you’ll have them when you need them. Congratulations you’re prepared for the next one.
For those of you who live in Florida, I subscribe to the idea of never letting your vehicle gas tank get less than half full during Hurricane Season. It will ensure that you’re always ahead of the game if there is a run on fuel due to an upcoming storm.
And remember, if you have no intentions of evacuating, there is no need for you to fill multiple vehicles 100%. Go ahead and save time for preparing your house and allow those who do plan to evacuate to fill their vehicles and head out of town. There is so much frustration to be saved if you’re not sitting in that endless line trying to get fuel you do not even plan on using.
Tankers will come and restock the fuel, you can get fueled up after the evacuees leave and before the storm hits. You will miss the frustrations of the lines and when you return to your home you can hunker down and be safe. Just remember if it is recommended by local officials to evacuate, please do. It is in your best interests to leave and stay safe.
