Merry Christmas everyone
For many the celebration of Christmas begins with Christmas eve. Maybe you get together with family and share food and open a few gifts prior to heading out in the cold weather to Midnight Mass. Ok, so here in Florida I’m sure I won’t be heading out in the cold weather, but I’m sure some do think the weather at 11:30 pm is still “cold”.
Of course not all gifts can be opened prior to Midnight Mass as Santa Clause never delivers before Christmas! Opening presents and Santa Claus are certainly highlights, but Christmas is so much more than receiving gifts; it’s celebrating the birth of Jesus and showing mutual respect and kindness to all individuals in the world. That is the real reason for the holiday season.
It’s the story of the Angel, Mary and Joseph traveling to Bethlehem.
One stable during the holiday season is the song “12 Days of Christmas” and I offer you the cost:
A Partridge in a Pear Tree $209.99
Partridge $ 20.00
Pear Tree $189.99
Two Turtle Doves $375.00
Three French Hens $181.50
Four Calling Birds $599.96
Five Golden Rings $750.00
Six Geese-a-laying (these are Florida Geese) $360.00
Seven Swans-a-swimming $13,125.00
Eight Maids-a-milking $58.00….
Nine Ladies Dancing $7,552.84
10 Lords-a-leaping $5,508.70
Eleven Pipers Piping $2,708.40
Twelve Drummers Drumming $2,934.10
Grand Total $156,507.88
The funny thing is when I was looking for pictures for this post via Google Images, but the time I got to “four calling birds” Google knew what I was doing so the next search only required “fi” to return pictures for “five golden rings”. Not exactly sure if I should be impressed or suspicious that Google can read my mind…….
