It’s been a while…
Yes, it’s been a while since I last posted. A lot of nothing has happened. I’ve been busy with work, busy with other things and honestly have no upcoming vacation to speak of.
The last few years, I’ve gone on some wonderful vacations; Morocco, Poland, Norway, Spain, Italy, India, and Russia are just a few. For a South Dakota girl, I’ve travelled to many continents and many countries within those continents.
There is still much to enjoy in the United States. The cover photo is one natural beauty, Angel Oak tree, just outside Charleston, SC. If you’re ever in the area it is a must see.
Maybe going back to my roots would be a good choice. The Black Hills or the Badlands would be wonderful. Stopping at Wall Drug for a cinnamon roll or getting a buffalo burger would be nice… I wonder if Wall Drug still provides FREE ICE WATER? Oh how my mind is going back to my younger years……
I know Mt. Rushmore has changed a lot since I was there last. Well maybe not Mt Rushmore itself, but the area around it has changed and I’d love to go back. I think the last time I was at Mt Rushmore it was for my honeymoon and that was nearly 24 years ago!!
It could also be a good time to head back to Pine Ridge and see the Badlands as well. Many good summers were spent there sliding down the Badlands and picking cacti. I took some prairie cacti when I moved to Indiana. Unfortunately, I had to leave it when I moved to Florida.
First those thrones are like 2 inches long and I was constantly pricking myself, (yes, laugh I somehow found my self constantly on the wrong end of that cacti) but also the moving company refused to take a live plant. I also think the cacti would not survive in the high humidity of Florida so I hope the new owners are enjoying it.
I still need to hit my ancestral homes of Ireland and Holland. I’ve already been to Germany, the United Kingdom and all other Western European countries so these two are a must. Future vacations should take me to South America, Antarctica, and Australia. Once I hit those three continents I’ve officially traveled to the all. Imagine that, a South Dakota girl hitting all seven continents!
