Independence Day
July 4th has only been a federal holiday since 1941 but the tradition dates back to the Continental Congress adopting it as Independence Day in 1776. Traditionally it is celebrated with fireworks and grilling/BBQ; it is one of my favorite federal holidays.
Fun facts:
New York City has the biggest fireworks display; Macy’s of course.
Three presidents died on July 4th, two died on the exact same day even. Do you know who they were?
They were three of the first five presidents: John Adams, Thomas Jefferson and James Monroe. The second president, Adams, and the third, Jefferson, both died in 1826.
There was also a country that gained independence from the US on July 4th 1946. Do you know which country?
Phillipines
Happy 4th of July to everyone! Have fun, stay safe and if you’re in Smith County Kansas, I know a very great place to buy fireworks!!
