Hermitage Museum
We spent a few hours at the Hermitage museum. We saw some Rembrandts, some DaVincis and more. The place was crazy busy. Here are some photos/videos. Most people would think two hours wasn’t enough and it wasn’t if you wanted to see everything. However, it was plenty long enough for me. The crowds were awful and we were warned over and over again about pick-pockets operating in/around the Hermitage. This museum was more busy than the Prado in Madrid and the Lourve in Paris.
The floor was amazing in its own right…. so many different woods and styles from room to room. These pictures are all floors. I tried to find a corner without shoes so it’s hard to prove it, but trust me, these are all floors!
And of course the Rembrandts and DaVincis. The guide in this picture was so rude. Kept his group in front of all pictures and then he just walked in front of the painting continuously so I couldn’t get one without him in it. Our guide actually talked to us via headsets and she was in the other room. But we were crowded in like cattle in a stockyard!!
And a few videos….. these rooms were massive. The videos don’t do justice to the size…

Then we went to Saint Issac’s Church (Orthodox)….
The door above was HUGE. Notice the scale as the women stands in front? Again it’s something to see with your own eyes.
Our tour guide said the church was shelled by the Nazi’s but they didn’t destroy it because they used it as a reference point as it can be seen from miles away. We could see the outside columns were damaged, as was much of St Petersburg at the hands of the Nazi’s.
And a couple videos inside the church……
