Bazurto Market
We looked at this market on Trip Advisor. It was rated either 5 stars or 1 stars, nothing really in between. Let’s just say it’s not for the faint at heart but if you want to experience a true Columbian market this is it.
You can buy food, veggies, fruit, clothing pretty much anything. It smells awful in the meat section but our guide walked us through it pretty fast. It’s the pace to be if you’re Columbian. In the US people hang at Starbucks, in Cartagena people hang at the public market. There was dancing in the fumes of fresh cilantro. No joke!
Below are some pictures…
These last two pictures were taken of food made famous by Anthony Bourdain. While we didn’t have turtle, it was shrimp, shark, and sawfish rice (I dint eat any seafood rice) but also traditional rice and beans along with coconut rice. Those were quite good.
This is a warm dessert. Plantains and their very own Kola Roman. It was very good actually.
