Avianca
So today was our first flight on Avianca (a Star Alliance member). While our plane was branded Star Alliance and not Avianca, it did have a Colombian flag on it along with smaller lettering of Avianca.
An airbus 320, I was pleasantly surprised by the excess leg room in coach compared to the American domestic equivalent. I mean our flights to Nebraska on United (Star Alliance member) did not provide this much leg room. I’ve flown on American and United planes that required me to sit straight up for the entire flight and my knees were touching the seat in front of me. You can see in the picture below I have plenty of knee room.
Over all the cabin was quite nice giving as much head room as possible and we had plenty of space in the overhead bins for our carryon flight and our backpacks fit fine underneath the seat in front.
We can’t comment on checked luggage as we only packed our backpacks and one carryon.
Being a Columbian plane, most of the announcements were in Spanish and then English. The onboard magazine was all Spanish so unfortunately I couldn’t read anything but the pictures looked really nice.
Like most flights these days, Avianca servers a light lunch. The flight was under three hours so no need for a larger lunch as is typical on international flights. Hot turkey and cheese along with salad and a nice dessert.
All of our flights are on Avianca so I’ll see how they compare. We have a mixture of afternoon, morning and evening flights.
Cute little bottles of agua and coke.
I would say Avianca is just as good as Lufthansa. #Avianca
