National Doughnut Day
Who knew there was such a day??? I guess it’s a day to go to Dunkin’ Donuts. But we can also celebrate
- I love my dentist day
- National Leave the Office Early Day
- NationalRotisserie Chicken Day
On this day in history
- 1979 Pope John Paul II becomes the first pontiff to visit a communist country. Millions of spectators lined the streets of Warsaw as the Pope began his nine-day tour of his native Poland.
When we travelled through Poland, even though his holiness died many years prior, he was still widely venerated. He truly was the people’s Pope and the most beloved person from Poland.
- 1953 Queen Elizabeth II is crowned. The coronation in London’s Westminster Abbey was the first televised major international event in history. Elizabeth’s accession to the throne followed the death of her father, King George VI, 16 months previously.
Ahh the Queen. I believe she is the longest serving monarch and just recently her husband stepped down from many royal duties due to his advancing age. The Queen too is advancing in age so there is of course speculation as to when or if she will abdicate her thrown to her son or possibly her Grandson.
