142nd Arbor Day

Today we celebrate a holiday started in Nebraska City, Nebraska. Arbor Day! While Earth Day has been around only 50 years, I feel sometimes it gets more attention than Arbor Day, but today I go back to my Nebraska roots.

If you’re able, plant a tree for your viewing pleasure, but also for the future generations. Any tree will do, and you don’t have to spend a lot of money. Buy a sapling and watch it grow. You’ll probably be amazed at how fast it grows. In fact, put a bench under it and you’ll have shade for years to come.

Here’s a picture,(know the picture is not that great but there are severe storms outside so I can’t snap a better picture today), of a Live Oak just a few blocks from my house. It’s definitely a Grand Tree.
